2018 AXIOM BJJ GI - Made in Maine, America

How do you quantify something so incredibly innovative and different that words escape the moment? The AXIOM is the totality of all our hard work here at Origin. Like Roman armor, the AXIOM is the first performance bjj gi ever engineered from field, to fiber, to fabric... not to mention a superior balance of form and function. This is simply is the most advanced BJ KIMONO ever created for the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The AXIOM features a Dragon Weave© GEN 2 jacket, which is embedded with Origin's SilverWick© (pure silver) to keep the microbes off. This Jacket is 100% anti-microbial, and transports perspiration away from your body while maintaining lightness and strength, even during the toughest workouts.

Prepare to Have Your Mind Blown.
Fact: Weight (or GSM) doesn't always equal strength. Dragon Weave© GEN 2 features a hybrid-blended fiber makeup, specifically engineered for Jiu-Jitsu. This proprietary performance textile was invented by the minds at Origin. This gi not only features the strongest jacket in its class, it's the strongest, most resilient textile that we make. When we engineered our gis and textiles, we did just that. They were truly engineered. It's time to burn your gear and buy it here.

The Mold Has Been Broken. We Invented "Gi Science"
The true difference in Origin is the fit, the feel, and the function. And the only reason we don't charge $500 for this kimono is that we sell all our products factory direct. This gi features Atomic Twill© GEN 2 pants. Another innovative textile, designed and engineered right here in the USA. Here at the factory we like to say Atomic Twill© and cockroaches are the only two things that would survive in an apocalyptic event, these textiles are that tough. Our ultra-light performance pants are 10x stronger than any other gi pant on the market. The fact is, since engineering this textile, we have yet to see anyone tear it. That's two years of ZERO failures. They truly dry as you train, giving you the ability to perform, move, and roll round after round. No matter how hard you are sweating, or how tough your partners grips are, both fabrics are made to perform in the most extreme environments.

Origin 2018 Axiom BJJ Gi. Boom. Not my first Origin Gi, but the first one that has fit me well. Why? Because putting on my new Comp Atleta Gi at the Immersion Camp last year caused me to start losing weight immediately. Believe it. I'm over 40, 5' 11" , A5 gi size and weighed almost 240 lbs a year ago. Today I weigh 208 and rock my new Axiom Gi size A3. Legit. Thanks to Origin products and BJJ lifestyle.
Reasons to purchase the 2018 Axiom Gi you ask? No prob.
    1. Body sizing and cut for jacket and pants is spot on.
    2. The Dragon Weave is a legit force multiplier on the mats.
    3. 100% made in America. Boom.
    4. Unmatched customer service at Origin.
    5. I have been training in my new Axiom Gi for about a month now and wish I had got one earlier.

So get in the game and get yourself the 2018 Axiom Gi. Get an Origin rash guard, or three. Change your life and get on the BJJ lifestyle path with Origin Maine. I'm glad I did. That's not counting the fact that I have developed super powers from Origin products. Boom.

    The very best!

Posted by Ryan Hodge on Jun 29th 2018

When you roll in an Origin gi, you roll in the best there is! Exponentially stronger than other weaves, antimicrobial, aesthetically superior, and tailored to your weapon(body), you couldn't ask for a more ideal instrument to adjust your game. Often, other black belts grapple with me and tell me they had trouble holding onto grips because of this tailoring and the uncomproimising harshness this dragonweave deals to your opponent's knuckles. Apparently, dragon scales hurt! Get one of these and prepare to make investments to fill your closet with one for every day of the week.

    Great gi, great company

Posted by Deryk on Jun 19th 2018

I received my 2018 Axiom gi (white) a couple of months ago. I own several BJJ gis, in part because I train three or four times a week and hang dry after washing. Especially during the crazy humid rainy season here (Japan), there are certainly times that my gis were not fully dry enough to wear. This is an issue with the Axiom. Thanks to the blended material it dries very quickly. If drying time is a consideration for you, Axiom wins.

    The Good.

As mentioned, I’ve had my Axiom for a few months and wear it regularly. I cannot detect any noticeable wear other than a few loose fibers occasionally popping out from the belt loops (cutting artifacts). The gi is relatively light but certainly strong enough to withstand being thrown around (with all 6’1”, 230 lbs. of me in it) by my instructors. The gi is sparsely decorated, which for some people fits well with their minimalist design sense, but in my case left a big (A4) canvas for decorating with my team’s patches.

    The Not-So-Good

The “Cowboy cut” pants fit great, and I love both the belt and the Velcro fly. However, it is those two features that evidently prevent this gi from being IBJJF compliant. My understanding is that the rationale is that the plastic buckle and Velcro could potentially be used by nefarious types to intentionally cause injury. Since Origin can’t control the IBJJF or the dishonorable jerks of the world, I can’t fault the gi for this issue.

My only minor issue is that the gi didn’t come with a gi bag. Yes, the would add some cost, but coming from a marketing/branding background, I would recommend Origin consider including one, especially since Origin’s brand positioning (premium quality product made in America) is one that most of their customers would be happy to be publicly identified with.

    Dragon Weave

The original weave of the jacket not only enhances breatheablity and quick drying, but looks different enough even from several feet away to be a conversation starter. As with any style point, it’s subjective. I think it looks great, my wife thinks it looks like bathrobe material.

I have noticed that especially when worn with a long sleeved rash guard, the jacket seems more “slippery” than traditional tops. This may be a function of the material or the weave, or some combination of the two. In use I’ve felt this can make fighting from my back (e.g.spider guard) a little easier.

If you’ve read this far into this review, it’s probable that you like to take the deep dive on researching a product before making a purchase decision. My advice to you would be: don’t postpone joy. This is a GREAT gi. Follow the advice on the website about selecting the correct size to get the best fit, and take the plunge.

    Confidence inspiring

Posted by Deryk on May 22nd 2018

The clothes make the man, we’re told. You know you feel, even behave, differently when you wear a good fitting suit and necktie, and people look at you differently when you’re well dressed. The Axiom has a similar effect on the mats. The sizing options make for a great fit, and the accurate shrinking directions help you really dial in the size. Two weeks ago at a big International tournament in central Japan, I watched a match that the ref had to interrupt to have one of the athletes retie his pants because they were getting pulled 3/4 of the way down his butt. Along with his underwear, you see. Mooning the crowd does not inspire confidence, and when I’m competing I’ve got more important things to worry about than my pants. The Swivel-Loc belt completely eliminates that concern. The Axiom is an expensive gi, but I’m sure it will last for many years, inspiring confidence and improving my gave for all of them. Therefore, it is in my view an excellent investment, and if you’ve read this far into my review, just pull the trigger and click the order button. You’ll be glad you did.

    Comfort and Function

Posted by Reid on May 15th 2018

This GI is amazing. If you are hesitating to buy one, do not. If you going to do BJJ having a comfortable and durable Gi makes life easier.

For Reference: I'm a well built male 5'8" 150. I followed the instructions that came with the order, and shrunk my Gi down to fit me like a well tailored suite (with mobility of course). I wore it without a rash guard, and never broke a sweet during warm ups.

I went with the 30 x 30 pants, and they look good, and are so comfortable. Origin's BJJ engineering IS NO JOKE. When you're trapped in those awkward positions, these pants provide zero friction on your legs. The swivel belt is a another nice feature. It keeps your pants in place so you don't need to adjust your GI after drills and rolling (I always found that annoying).

Very impressed, and I am looking forward to purchasing more origin products.

Excellent product. Probably the highest quality of any GI that you can order.

    Unique and High Quality

I'm 5'9" and 165lbs. the A2 top and medium pants fit great. The material is very different than most gi's feels light yet strong. The weave pattern is really cool too.

I highly recommend, this item truly stands out based on materials.

I am male 5'6 195lbs with a stocky build. Ordered an A2 jacket with short inseam pants. The jacket is the lightest and softest I have worn. I chose the rope option with the pants and should have went with the Swiveloc belt. The uniform drys super fast outside and great to roll in. You get what you pay for. Made in America, "from the dirt to shirt."

Great gi, just not my perfect fit.

Posted by Brandon on Apr 16th 2018

I’m loving the material and the construction is top notch, the only thing that I dislike about his gi is how much better I like the fit of my Athleta.

The big differences are that the Axiom's skirt is a little longer and the front doesn’t wrap as far around my waist as the Athleta. With the Athleta the ends of my lapels reach all the way to the hip notches (what I would call the vents on a suit) the axiom only goes 3/4ths of the way there and the skirt hangs about 2 inches lower.

I’ve gotten lots of compliments on the gi and as expected I look fantastic while getting collar choked, or tied up and Ezekieled with my own lapel. Thanks Origin, I do love the gi.
